History and Introduction of the Programme

Since 2017, a group of passionate students has been driven by a shared aspiration to become a light to the world by serving humanity and creating meaningful impact. Led by the first cohort of leaders, Wynaldo O’niel Elexter Wilfred, Lim Chang Xin, Aidorah Solingkin, Arrisca Abun, and Eric Shoo, they came together with a unified vision of saving lives through blood donation. This vision was brought to life through their first blood donation drive in November 2017 at Suria Sabah, marking a pivotal transformation from a simple idea into a purposeful and impactful movement. This milestone laid the foundation for a journey rooted in compassion, service, and community engagement.

Originally established as ONERO, which stands for One Hero, the movement emphasised the importance of individual action in making a difference. Over time, through experience, data-driven insights, and a deeper understanding of the need to engage new generations of donors, the team recognised the importance of evolving their approach. In February 2022, the programme was rebranded as OLITHLI, meaning One Light, Three Life. This name reflects its renewed vision and mission, highlighting the powerful truth that a single act of donation can save up to three lives.

Blood is not merely a biological fluid; it is the essence of life, carrying oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and vital components throughout the human body. Despite its critical role, Malaysia continues to face challenges in maintaining an adequate blood supply due to increasing demand and limited donor participation, especially among the younger generation. In response, OLITHLI stands as a high-impact initiative that integrates humanitarian values with youth empowerment and awareness. More than just a programme, it is a transformative movement that empowers individuals to step forward as problem-solvers and become a source of hope for those in need.

Meaning Behind OLITHLI (One Light, Three Life)

OLITHLI carries the meaning “One Light, Three Lives,” inspired by the fact that a single blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives. In this context, every donor is regarded as a light that shines upon a world in need of true heroes. This movement transforms donors from mere participants into problem-solvers—courageous individuals who step forward to respond to real humanitarian challenges.
